About the Author
Tor has held a commercial helicopter licence since the age of 22 and spent many interesting seasons flying helicopters throughout northern Canada. Most of his flying has been in the Coastal and Rocky Mountains of B.C., and also in Nunavut, north of the arctic circle. Normal flights consisted of a wide variety of charter flying involving mineral exploration, fire fighting, wildlife, communications, forestry, long-line work and numerous other challenges presented on a regular basis. He's taken instrument, mountain and ATPL training, holds a night rating and has accumulated 6000 hours of accident free, turbine helicopter time. He started writing this novel while staying home to assist and care for his long-term partner, during her courageous battle with declining health. Tor currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

What did I just read?

First, I wanted to like the characters, they were nice people.
Here's the abridged version. Young lady, just out of the military, lands a dream job being the bodyguard for an 8 yr old genius. And he's the perfect kid. His dad is a trauma surgeon and he's rich and nice too.
What could possibly go wrong.
Forget the bad guys, they are doing the dumbest things themselves.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but after you pick up your genius kid from the protection of the CIA, how do you take him home? In your private helicopter where no one is instrument certified, in bad weather, at night. What? Everyone doesn't do this? Next, our heroine has her car stripped in a bad neighborhood. So what does she do? Get the kid and go there driving a new Mustang Cobra.
Sure, we'll blend right in. Of course, they have to run for their lives. If the kid was so smart, he'd have ditched her.
The second problem is that there is so much wasted dialogue.
"How about some lunch" "Sure, but don't go out of your way."
"It's no problem, how about soup and a sandwich?" "Okay." "I'll bring it up to the loft." STOP!
Then the weirdest thing happened, just when the plot got serious, and they were at the brink of despair, the "book" ends. I thought maybe I was missing pages, but it was 100% (kindle)
No mention of: "Next edition, they escape"
It's like the author got tired of writing, and just sent what he (she?)had.
It has potential, I was prepared to suspend my disbelief, but there's no end!!!

Definitely a two-session read

Though this is a long novel, it has sufficient pace to keep you reading well past your bedtime! The characters are well-developed and have interesting relationships. The story contains a wealth of scientific and technical detail, but in a way that is not only understandable, but interesting.The story development is such that the end is complete in itself, but there is obviously a crying need for a sequel. I'd love to see the movie!!

I agree that there was some unnecessary dialogue between characters but overall I enjoyed the book ...

This is the author's first novel. I thought the characters were very interesting and well thought out. The plot was very exciting with lots of twist and turns. I agree that there was some unnecessary dialogue between characters but overall I enjoyed the book and found it very hard to put down. Surprise ending which I won't divulge. I am hoping there's a book 2!
