Drawing on arguments from economic sociology, politics and policy studies, political economy and critical geography, the text focuses on both conceptual approaches to the social study of the economy, and trans-national processes of social and economic restructuring.

The arguments provide a critical overview of current concerns for economic sociology, and extend the boundaries of the discipline to a new set of questions. The text is particularly relevant to undergraduate and graduate students and scholars in the fields of economic and political sociology, politics and government, geography, economics and international relations.

My rising sixth grader is good at math, but in class she sometimes doesn't catch a key part of an algorithm. This can throw her off for the entire unit. This series of books, which was well-reviewed in the NY Times, uses micro steps to teach algorithms. My daughter worked through several sections of this book by herself last summer, and understood the material well enough to be assigned the challenge packets during the school year. We'll use the seventh grade books this summer.

Martin Handford, the man behind the mind-boggling Waldo books, began his career as a freelance illustrator specializing in drawing crowd scenes. "I can’t tell you how pleased I am that Waldo has taken on a life of his own," he says. She enjoyed just pointing out people and things that she saw

I bought this for a 4 year old. Her and I spent HOURS - 2 to be exact- looking at all the pictures and trying to find Waldo (okay, so she doesn't usually have this attention span; I was surprised too). She enjoyed just pointing out people and things that she saw, and the excitement when she would find Waldo...There was clapping and jumping up and down. Such fun to share a piece of my childhood with another generation. Great book for kids. Lots of things for them to look at and find. I ended up buying the other books for her next birthday.

this is a great seek n find book!

I really love all things wheres waldo and so do my kids! i got this for my 6 year old son and he loves it! he has all of the usborn hide and seek books and this was one i remember loving when i was young. It was a big hit at his birthday party and he has been looking at it ever since. the great thing about this book is that even after you find all the waldos the book still offers sooo much to look at that I think it will last quite awhile and keep his interest for some time!

Grade 8 Up—In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the publication of Paul Zindel's award-winning novel, The Pigman (HarperCollins, 1968), Zindel's son David has produced audiobook versions of The Pigman and The Pigman's Legacy (Harper, 1980). In the first title, as a result of a phone prank, high school sophomores John and Lorraine become friends with Mr. Pignati (the Pigman), an elderly widower. The conflicted teens feel alienated from everything, but the Pigman's enthusiasm for life soon spills over onto them. John and Lorraine go roller skating with their new friend, and he suffers a heart attack and is hospitalized. The teens have a party at the Pigman's house, and his pig collection and some of his late wife's clothes are destroyed. When Mr. Pignati comes home unexpectedly, he's distraught and feels betrayed by the teens. They try to make it up to him by taking him to the zoo, where he learns that his beloved gorilla, Bobo, has died. This trauma causes the Pigman to have a fatal heart attack. In The Pigman's Legacy, John and Lorraine discover that a homeless man is living in Mr. Pignati's abandoned house. Thinking that this is a chance for them to make up for what happened to the Pigman, they try to befriend the surly old man. After to Atlantic City to cheer up the man, they discover that the true legacy of the Pigman is love. Both stories are told in chapters that alternate between John and Lorraine's point of view, narrated by Charlie McWade and Eden Riegel who do an outstanding job of bringing the characters to life. An added bonus is a fascinating interview with Paul Zindel discussing his craft. If you loved Pigman, you must read this book. I really love the way the author tells the story. Sucked me right in, had to finish it right away!

A moving story, for all lovers of the original Pigman.

The sequal of "The Pigman" at first looks totally uncalled for, and has the same basic plot. But at a second look you will see that this book, still staring John and Lorranie, has the same moving emotianal plot. This time, changing charactor build. The "Pigman" of the story is a grumpy old man running from the IRS hiding in the Pigman's house. This is a complete change from the friendly, welcoming, old portraid in the original Pigman. It has the same good humor and charactors. Zindel, again, works the reader into a huge mess of couping with problems. This book, I would give a PG-13 rating. It deals more with Sex and drinking the the original Pigman. It goes up and down, from happy points, when the old man is having fun for the first time in a casino, to sad points, when John spends all the money the old man won. Be prepared to cry at the end, with the same type of sad ending. A exelent book for lovers of the original Pigman. WARNING: NOT TO BE READ, UNLESS YOU HAVE READ THE ORIGINAL!!!!!
